Steve Hamm's new book The Race for Perfect: Inside the Quest to Design the Ultimate Portable Computer looks interesting. It's both a history of portable computers and a behind-the-scenes look at Lenovo when they were designing the ThinkPad X300.
Business Week, where Hamm is a writer, has an excerpt from the book with a twist — the excerpt is adapted into comic strip form (and is about computer pioneer Alan Kay): The Long Road to the Laptop.
The book expands on a cover story by Hamm and Kenji Hall from February called Building the Perfect Laptop.
Lenovo has some good company blogs, including the Design Matters blog. I learned of the book there in a post by Lenovo design VP David Hill: The Race For Perfect (Design Matters).
